The Heart Chakra, or Anahata, is the energy center of love, compassion, and emotional openness. Located in the center of the chest, it bridges the lower physical chakras and the higher spiritual ones. Its color is green and it is associated with the air element.
When balanced, the Heart Chakra allows us to give and receive love freely, show compassion, and form healthy relationships. When blocked, we may experience feelings of loneliness, resentment, or emotional pain. Yoga poses that expand the chest and invite vulnerability can help open this sacred space.
Asanas for the Heart Chakra:
Ustrasana (Camel Pose): Deeply opens the front body and heart space, encouraging emotional release.
Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose): A gentle heart opener that combines strength with grace.
Anahatasana (Melting Heart Pose): A passive pose that allows the heart to melt toward the earth, fostering receptivity and surrender.
Practice Tip: Breathe deeply into your chest and focus on feelings of love and gratitude. Allow your heart to lead your movement and embrace vulnerability with softness.
This week at People’s Yoga, we invite you to soften, to open, and to connect with yourself and others on a deeper level as we explore the beautiful energy of the Heart Chakra.
Each week at People’s Yoga, we explore not only the physical asanas but also the deeper energetic layers that bring balance and meaning to our practice. Join us as we journey through the chakras together.
