Chakra Locations and Colors

The Root Chakra, or Muladhara, is located at the base of the spine and represents stability, security, and our connection to the earth. It is associated with the color red and the element of earth. When this chakra is balanced, we feel grounded, safe, and supported in our lives. It governs our basic needs—such as food, shelter, and safety—and wh

en it's out of balance, we may experience anxiety, fear, or insecurity.

Our yoga practice offers us a powerful way to reconnect with the energy of the Root Chakra. Grounding poses that focus on the legs and feet help us cultivate a strong foundation both physically and energetically.

Asanas for the Root Chakra:

  • Tadasana (Mountain Pose): Encourages grounding through the feet and alignment through the spine. This seemingly simple pose invites deep awareness of balance and stability.

  • Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I): A strong stance that builds stability and confidence, energizing the legs and cultivating determination.

  • Malasana (Garland Pose): A deep squat that opens the hips and strengthens the connection to the earth. It’s excellent for grounding and releasing stored tension.

Practice Tip: Focus on your breath and feel each point of contact between your body and the mat. Visualize roots growing from your feet deep into the earth, anchoring and stabilizing you.

Come practice with us this week as we explore these grounding postures and reconnect with the foundational energy of Muladhara.
